🟦 Feature

K40 was designed to meet specific operational requirements of Korean Army for infantry fighting vehicles by improving fire-power and operational capabilities. It is now mounted on K21 KIFV(Korea Infantry Fighting Vehicle) as the main armament, controlled by fire control system for anti-air and anti-tank.

The gun itself is fitted on a two-man turret with a commander sitting on the left and a gunner on the right.

K40 can be operated by either electric-hydraulic or manual in case of emergency, and is reloaded from a downdocking magazine pumped by a hoist, so that it can reduce the remaining ammunitions after fire stops.

(K40은 비상시 전기유압 또는 수동에 의해 작동될 수 있으며, 호이스트에 의해 펌핑된 다운도킹 탄창에서 재장전되어 화재가 멈춘 후 남은 탄약을 줄일 수 있다.)

 

The magazine can hold a total of 24 different types of ammunition including PFHE, APFSDS and MMFA in each 3 separate compartments, and proper ammunitions can be selected by quickly shifting the magazine, depending on enemy targets.

(탄창은 PFHE, APFSDS, MMFA 등 총 24종의 탄약을 3개의 별도 칸에 장착할 수 있으며, 적 목표에 따라 탄창을 신속하게 이동시켜 적절한 탄약을 선택할 수 있다.)

 

MMFA(Multi-Mode-Fuzed Ammunition) such as an airburst ammunition is set to a proper function mode by contact from a feeder and a fuze setter at firing.

(발사 시 급전기와 연무 세터와의 접촉에 의해, 에어버스트 탄약과 같은 MMFA(Multi-Mode-Fuzed Abnaltions)가 적절한 기능 모드로 설정된다.)
